RSPB Bird Watch 2026:

St Weonards Academy RSPB bird spotting day research

Exploring Nature Through Learning

The children across both KS1 and KS2 have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in this year’s RSPB Bird Watch. They began by researching a range of British birds and learning how to recognise their distinctive features.

Following this, the children headed outdoors to observe the wildlife around our school grounds. Using tens frames and tally charts, they recorded the bird activity they spotted, helping them apply their mathematical skills in a real‑world context.

We are incredibly fortunate to have such extensive outdoor spaces that enrich our learning and provide wonderful opportunities for hands‑on experiences with nature.
