Fractions

In Maths this week we have been learning all about fractions. We started the week by finding half of shapes. The children were then set the challenge to see how many different ways they could find a half of a range of 2-d shapes. Well done Seahorses!Â
Remembrance 2024

On Monday all pupils at St Weonards Academy took part in a two minute silence as well as engaging in a range of activities. The children created pieces of art, created poems and words of thanks. We also discussed the special services that are held on Remembrance Sunday.

Creating pan flutes

In Science, Year 3 and 4 are currently learning all about ‘Sound’. The children have been busy this week creating pan flutes to investigate pitch. The children were investigating how the different lengths of the tubes impacted upon the pitch.Â

Less than, more than, equal to

In Maths, some of the children in Seahorse Class have been introduced to using the different symbols for more than, less than and equal to. The children used practical equipment to assist with their learning.
Titanic

In History, Seahorse Class have been busy learning all about the Titanic. The children have been using primary sources to find out additional information about the sinking of this famous ship. The children particularly enjoyed examining an original ticket required to board the ship!
National Coding Week 2024

Last month we celebrated National Coding Week at St Weonards Academy. All of the children in KS1 and KS2 developed their programming skills. The KS1 pupils programmed floor robots called Bee-bot and moved on to programming apps on the iPads.The children in Sharks class worked on Scratch at various levels.
